BAB 030/19: Implementing LEADER in Mestia municipality for better livelihoods in high mountainous regions of Georgia

The research project BAB 030/19 "Implementing LEADER in Mestia municipality for better livelihoods in high mountainous regions of Georgia - GEO945" was completed in 2023. The Federal Institute of Agricultural Economics and Mountain Farming (BAB) provided its specific expertise on local development (LEADER) in European mountain regions as a scientific partner for this project. The BAB staff involved were responsible for specific thematic work, advisory activities, the analysis of region-specific implementation and the international exchange of information as part of project implementation. This work, which was primarily intended to be an intensive advisory and discussion activity, was made very difficult at times due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic and could only be carried out virtually over a long period of time. Despite these adverse circumstances, the implementation of the LEADER work in the mountain area of the municipality of Mestia was carried out within the planned project period and, with the exception of a few networking activities, the advisory services could be provided.
