RUSTIK Project Meeting in Millstatt

From October 14th to 17th, this year’s meeting of the HEU project RUSTIK took place in Millstatt am See, Carinthia.  The aim of the project is to support sustainable transformation processes in rural regions through Living Lab processes. The entire project consortium, consisting of scientific and practical partners from ten EU countries, gathered to reflect on the progress of the project and plan the next steps. Representing BAB, Ingrid Machold, Karin Schroll, Klaus Wagner, and Daria Ernst participated. The event was hosted by the Austrian RUSTIK pilot region partner, the Regional Association Nockregion-Oberkärnten (RVN).

A key focus of the meeting was the collective reflection on the second project year. In brief presentations, the 14 Living Labs reported on their progress and exchanged valuable insights and experiences. Future collaborations were also planned, and the next steps for the upcoming project year were discussed. Additionally, the Advisory Board met to provide strategic recommendations for further supporting the project.

A special highlight was the half-day excursion on Wednesday. Along the Nockalm Road, a ranger guided the group through the Nockberge Biosphere Park. This was followed by a tour through the artists' town of Gmünd, where the cultural initiative Gmünd has successfully transformed the town over the past decades into a vibrant center for art and culture through a diverse cultural offering.
