BAB 004/87: Typology of Farms for the presentation of the economic performance of agriculture

The classification of agricultural and forestry holdings serves to group holdings together into categories that are as homogeneous as possible in terms of certain criteria. Only the greatest possible homogeneity of the holdings in a group ensures that representative statements can be made about the economic situation of agriculture on the basis of average figures. Since the 2010 agricultural structure survey, the production orientation and economic size of a holding have been determined at NUTS 2 level according to the composition of the standard outputs or the total standard output of an agricultural and forestry holding.

Status of the project

After the classification of agricultural and forestry holdings in the INVEK-OS database was also implemented for special types of holdings in 2020, evaluations can now be carried out for various agricultural policy issues, among other things.

Work in 2026

The standard output coefficients for 2023 (average from 2021 to 2025) will be used for the next agricultural structure survey in 2026. Once the final producer prices are available, the 2023 standard output coefficients will be determined by the Federal Agency and, after plausibility checks, transmitted to Eurostat and cooperation partners in Austria.
Once all information on INVEKOS farms is available, the year 2025 will be classified.
